Review | Our Best Bites: Mormon Moms in the Kitchen by Sara Wells and Kate Jones

Our Best Bites: Mormon Moms in the KitchenIt’s Pi Day people. March 14th. You know, mathematics, circumference, Pi=3.14. Pi Day is meant to be a day where we all celebrate mathematics. I’ve never found much of a reason to celebrate math, but if it means pie, they hey, I’m all in.

One of my favorite desserts is a cheesecake, and although it’s not technically pie, I like to think of it as a very close cousin to pie, and so it counts for me on Pi Day. This cheesecake is so delicious and has become a family favorite for Thanksgiving. Drum roll please… Pumpkin Cheesecake with Pecan-Gingersnap Crust.

I found the recipe for this cheesecake deliciousness in the book, Our Best Bites: Mormon Moms in the Kitchen. Fortunately (and dangerously), the yum does not stop at Pumpkin Cheesecake with Pecan-Gingersnap Crust; every recipe I’ve ever made and tried from this book has pretty much been fantastic.

Don’t be fooled by the title, you DO NOT need to be a Mormon to make the delicious recipes in this book. If you need more convincing, go to the fabulous Our Best Bites website and you’ll find a treasure trove of great recipes and cooking tips. You’ll even find my favorite ‘pie’ recipe there, and if that doesn’t suit your fancy, try one of the other 20+ pie recipes Our Best Bites has to offer on their website for your math-tastic, pie-eating celebration.

Then, this evening, after you’re done indulging in Pi Day festivities, if one of the Our Best Bites recipes has convinced you, jump over to Amazon and pick up Our Best Bites, a great cookbook for a great price so you can add it to your kitchen library.

Finally, a book I’ve actually read! Ha ha. Love OBB, this is easily my most-used cookbook – it’s full of delicious but not-too-complicated dinner recipes that I can put together after work. Wish I was home today to bake something pie-related… Happy Pi Day!

    • Coming from Allison, that’s quite the endorsement. I’ve eaten her cooking before, and it’s something you don’t want to miss.
