Review | Swirl by Swirl: Spirals in Nature by Joyce Sidman and Beth Krommes

Swirl by Swirl: Spirals in Nature

Description: An exploration of the spiral shape and all the different places in nature and in animals where spirals can be found.

Story: “A spiral is a snuggling shape.” Many different and creative descriptions are used to show and tell readers what a spiral is. At the end of the book there is an encyclopedia of sorts that describes spirals in more depth for more advanced readers.

Illustrations: The illustrations in this book are absolutely fantastic. The colors are somewhat muted, but each page holds a wealth of movement and activity.

Swirl by Swirl: Spirals in Nature is definitely one of my favorite picture books that I’ve come across so far this year. It’s text is very simple, and the illustrations are so incredibly beautiful, that I quickly fell in love with it.
