Review | The Heroes Guide to Saving Your Kingdom (Hero’s Guide #1) by Christopher Healy

Review | The Heroes Guide to Saving Your Kingdom by Christopher HealyPrince Liam, Prince Frederic, Prince Duncan, and Prince Gustav: just who is the real Prince Charming and what happens when Prince ‘Charming’ meets Prince ‘Charming?’

Rejected by their princesses or running away from them, cast out of their castles, or just not appreciated for their true contributions, these princes are determined (or not) to create their own destinies. In all their misadventures together, they stumble upon (quite literally) a witch’s evil plot of mass destruction. But do these charming misfits have the wherewithal to defeat the evil witch?

The odds are definitely not in their favor.

The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom had so many laugh-out-loud moments. I loved each of the characters, their humanness, and their endearing foibles.

Despite what I liked about the book, the story seemed to drag a little. I’m curious enough about the characters to read the sequel, but I hope the plot picks up the pace.

I recommend The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom to young readers. I listened to the audio version and the reader did a fantastic job with his delivery, creating many different voices for each character.

Prince Liam. Prince Frederic. Prince Duncan. Prince Gustav. You’ve never heard of them, have you? These are the princes who saved Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel, respectively, and yet, thanks to those lousy bards who wrote the tales, you likely know them only as Prince Charming. But all of this is about to change.

Rejected by their princesses and cast out of their castles, the princes stumble upon an evil plot that could endanger each of their kingdoms. Now it’s up to them to triumph over their various shortcomings, take on trolls, bandits, dragons, witches, and other assorted terrors, and become the heroes no one ever thought they could be.
